All About Frys Turkish Delight Bar
Originally launched in the UK in 1914 by the Bristol based chocolate manufacturer J. S. Fry & Sons, Frys Turkish Delight Bar consists of a rose-flavoured Turkish delight surrounded by milk chocolate. Despite merging with Cadbury in 1919 the product still remains inextricably linked with Fry’s.

Promoted as an exotic taste sensation with a soft eating Turkish Delight jelly centre covered in milk chocolate the formulation of this product has recently changed to now include 60% less fat per gram than the average of leading chocolate bars.
Available in a range of packaging sizes including a 55g bar, 76g Twin Pack and a 200g share pack, this product from the late 1950s has adopted the slogan ‘Full of Eastern Promise’ for its advertising on British TV advertisements. Among those appearing in their commercials in the 1960s was the model and actress Jane Lumb.
In Australia and New Zealand the range of ‘Turkish Delight’ products released by Cadbury has grown in recent years to include mini Easter eggs, ice-cream, family block chocolate bars, and small versions used in boxed chocolates.
The ingredients list for the Frys Turkish Delight bar reads as Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Full Cream Milk, Water, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Starch, Vegetable Fat, Vegetable Gum (440), Milk Solids, Emulsifiers (Soya Lecithin, 476), Food Acids (575, 331, 330), Flavours, Colours (110, 124, 102). Milk Chocolate contains Cocoa Solids 20%, Milk Solids 18%.
This product is made in New Zealand from Local and Imported Ingredients. It has milk and soy in it.
